A long-awaited splash park in St Neots will open in early May following final safety checks, ending years of delays and debate over the future of the former lido site.
A new splash park in St Neots is finally set to open next month following years of delays and a build cost of £795,000.
Located on the former lido site on Huntingdon Street, the facility is scheduled for a “soft opening” on May 2, subject to final safety inspections taking place over the coming week.
The project has been closely followed by local residents, with reaction divided. Many have welcomed the investment as a modern, family-friendly addition to the town, particularly ahead of the summer months.
However, others have expressed disappointment that the historic heated lido was not reinstated, arguing that a traditional swimming facility would have offered greater long-term value.
Council officials say the splash park provides a more sustainable and accessible option, designed to attract visitors while keeping maintenance costs lower than a full swimming pool.
