Bedfordshire Police says more than 20 arrests have been made this month as officers intensify action against gun, gang and drug crime across the county.
Bedfordshire Police says a major crackdown on organised criminal activity has led to 23 arrests and 10 charges in just three weeks.
The force’s specialist Boson guns and gangs unit has been targeting firearm offences, drug dealing and violent crime across the county throughout May.
Officers say they have recovered six firearms, around £10,000 in cash and drugs with an estimated street value of £50,000 during the operation.
Those charged are facing a range of firearms and drugs offences as investigations continue.
Detective Inspector Jon Wheeler said the force would continue taking “robust action” against organised criminality.
He said: “We will not tolerate firearms, drugs, or violent behaviour on our streets, and we’ll continue to take robust action against those who pose a threat to public safety.
“In the last three weeks we’ve stepped up our fight against those involved in such criminality, with a total of 23 arrests so far in May.”
The force says officers have also been carrying out proactive patrols during Sceptre, the national anti-knife crime awareness week, aimed at both deterring offenders and reassuring local communities.
Police are continuing to appeal for information from the public to help tackle gun and drug crime, saying community intelligence remains vital in building investigations and identifying areas of concern.
