Overnight A1 closures for new lighting works near Black Cat Roundabout

Drivers are being warned of overnight closures on the A1 northbound between Tempsford and the Black Cat Roundabout this week as part of the Black Cat Roundabout to Caxton Gibbet improvement project.

National Highways said the closures will be in place from 9pm to 5am, Monday 26 to Friday 30 January 2026, to allow the installation of new lighting columns on the northbound carriageway.

A signed diversion will be in place: northbound traffic should exit at Tempsford junction, follow St Neots Road towards St Neots, join the A428 towards Wyboston, and re-join the A1 northbound at Wyboston junction.

Motorists are advised to allow extra journey time and follow the diversion signs while works are carried out.
