National Highways has announced a planned weekend closure of the A1 southbound, south of the Black Cat Roundabout, as part of its major Black Cat to Caxton £1 billion project
The work will involve realigning the A1 over a newly built culvert, a structure that allows water to pass safely beneath the road to prevent flooding and erosion.
To carry out the work safely, the A1 southbound will be closed from 9pm on Friday 16 January until 5am on Monday 19 January 2026.
Traffic will be diverted via the A428 St Neots Road, rejoining the A1 at Tempsford.
National Highways is urging drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the closure.
