St Neots residents are being introduced to their dedicated neighbourhood police officers as part of a county-wide initiative to strengthen local policing and respond more swiftly to community concerns.
Under the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, Cambridgeshire Constabulary has now assigned a named officer to every local area—including St Neots and surrounding villages—with a promise that concerns such as anti-social behaviour will be addressed within 72 hours.
For St Neots and neighbouring areas including Eaton Socon, Eaton Ford, Little Paxton, and Great Gransden, Police Constable Sam Palmer will be the main point of contact.
“Neighbourhood policing has always been at the heart of why I joined the force,” said PC Palmer, who began his career with Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 2011. “From tackling anti-social behaviour to catching criminals and responding to emergencies, my focus is on making a genuine difference and building strong relationships with the people of Huntingdonshire.”
PC Palmer’s patch also covers Abbotsley, Great Staughton, Tetworth and Waresley.
Covering a wider stretch from Eynesbury to Kimbolton, and villages such as Great Paxton, Hail Weston, Buckden and Offord Cluny, is Police Constable Josh Crofts, who joined the force in 2020.
“I’ve always had a passion for policing and jumped at the chance to join the neighbourhood team. For me, being visible, proactive, and approachable is key,” said PC Crofts. “We are committed to public safety and are determined to tackle anti-social behaviour and local crime with the help of the community.”
This new approach aims to improve public trust and police visibility. The force has also appointed a dedicated anti-social behaviour lead to create tailored action plans in partnership with local councils and support services.
