End of an Era: Bolnhurst Vintage & Country Fayre Closes After 44 Years

Bolnhurst Rally Ends After 44 Years

After more than four decades, the Bolnhurst Vintage & Country Fayre has announced that its 2025 show was its last.

In a heartfelt message shared by the organisers, the team confirmed that the long-running rally will not return, bringing an end to a tradition that has spanned 44 years.

“We are sad to announce that we will no longer be running the rally,” the statement read. “2025 was the last show. We would like to thank all of our amazing exhibitors, traders, caterers, entertainers, volunteers, supporters, and all those who enjoyed the event over the years.”

The Bolnhurst Rally began as a modest gathering of local farmers and tractor enthusiasts who came together one weekend to show off their vintage farm machinery and steam engines. That first event raised funds for charity and was such a success that it became an annual fixture—growing in both scale and reputation.

Over the years, the Fayre expanded to include vintage cars, heavy goods vehicles, craft stalls, live entertainment in the main arena, and the famous “tractor games.” More than just an exhibition, it became a treasured social weekend for many, often welcoming up to four generations of families who returned each year to reminisce, reconnect, and raise a glass.

Organisers have always sought to preserve the original spirit of camaraderie and community that defined the first rally, even as younger committee members joined in recent years. Profits continued to benefit local charities, with between £2,000 and £3,000 donated annually.

The rally was known not just for its nostalgia, but for its resilience. Over the years, attendees braved unpredictable weather, including the famously sodden 2007 rally that was remembered with good humour and a nod to the “Dunkirk spirit.”

Although the decision to close the chapter has left many saddened, the organisers are inviting supporters to share their memories and photographs from years gone by, in a celebration of the rally’s legacy.

“We are gutted it’s come to an end,” organisers added. “But thank you all once again—for the memories, the laughter, and the community spirit that made Bolnhurst so special.”
