Custard may be the secret to a long-life!

Leslie Lemon

A 106-year-old World War Two veteran with ties to St Neots has revealed his secret to a long life — a daily dose of custard.

Leslie Lemon, who now lives in Aylesbury, says custard — whether powdered or from a carton — alongside rhubarb from his garden, is his secret to a long life.

During the war, Leslie served with the Royal Engineers and was stationed in St Neots, where he met his late wife, Doreen. The couple married in nearby Luton in 1944 and raised three children.

Leslie, who received France’s prestigious Légion d’honneur for his wartime service, still enjoys visits from his large family in Bedfordshire and remains active and sharp, proving that custard might just be the recipe for a happy and long life.
