January might feel a long way away - but for hundreds of thousands of taxpayers, they've been getting ahead of the game by filing their Self Assessment returns early.
In April 2026, 86,270 submitted their tax returns on day one of the new financial year. Easter Monday was the most popular day to file.
Conor McGloin joined Brian Dobson to explain more about Self Assessment - what it is; why people file early, the advantages; and what people need to do if they are concerned about tax matters.
