St Neots Junior Rowers Celebrate String of Regatta Successes

Young athletes from St Neots Rowing Club claimed multiple victories and podium finishes at two major summer regattas, highlighting the club's growing strength across the junior ranks.

St Neots Rowing Club's junior squad enjoyed an impressive run of success at two recent regattas, collecting a host of victories and podium finishes against strong competition.

The club's standout performance came at the Huntingdon Regatta on 5 July, where St Neots secured four event wins. Josh N claimed first place in the J13 Single Sculls, while Alex and Ethan teamed up to win the J17 Double Sculls. Zara added another title in the WJ14 Single Sculls, before Millie, Miriam, Sam, Alex, Tilly, Poppy C, Josh R and Ethan combined to take victory in the Open Mixed Eight.

There were also several strong runner-up performances. Sam finished second in the J17 Single Sculls, Miriam and Millie claimed silver in the WJ17 Double Sculls, and Esther and Martha were runners-up in the WJ14 Double Sculls. Josh R and Harry reached the semi-finals of the J17 Double Sculls, while Tilly, Alice, Izzy and Harry gained valuable racing experience in their singles events.

The club had already impressed at the Peterborough Junior Regatta on 27 June. Josh N again took top honours in the J13 Single Sculls, while Alice finished third in the WJ13 Single Sculls A Final, with Martha narrowly missing out on a medal. Will and Harry placed fifth from a field of 20 in the J15 Double Sculls, while Zara and Alice finished ninth out of 19 crews in the WJ14 Double Sculls.

Success extended to the senior squad, with Adrian Vuylsteke and Huw Jarman winning the Open Pair, while Louise Shorten claimed victory in the Women's Single Sculls at Huntingdon.

Junior coaches Adrian Vuylsteke and Louise Shorten praised the squad's commitment and determination, saying the results reflected months of hard work both on and off the water.
