Before the game Eynesbury Rovers would probably have been satisfied with a point at third-placed Desborough but after the hosts played the entire second half with ten men there was disappointment that they didn’t take all three.

After two successive heavy losses this was a much improved performance by Rovers, who put Desborough under the cosh after the break.
In a lively opening to the game the hosts could have taken a 15th minute lead but James Hoskins tipped over Lammin Jammeh’s back post header over the bar and from the resultant corner Dom Allen-Ledgeway glanced a header wide. However, two minutes later they took the lead. After an Adam Randall header had hit the post the ball came out to Ben Fitzjohn who fired the ball into the top corner.
Rovers were back on level terms in the 25th minute when Luke Young scored from the penalty spot after he had been tugged back by Ryan Martindale. A minute later they could have taken the lead but Dan Hammer could only divert Lewis Lynn’s low corner into the penalty area wide of goal. At the other end Dodzi Agbenue saw his shot come back off the crossbar and Randall headed over from a corner kick.
On the stroke of half time there was a minor altercation between Luke Young and Aaron Davies and as the referee went to speak to both players Iain Blaikie made a homophobic comment and was duly shown the red card.
In the second half Rovers held the upper hand in terms of possession whilst Desborough looked to hit their visitors on the break. Agbenu broke down the left flank and set up Lewis Walker but his effort was miscued and gathered easily by James Hoskins and later Liam Honour broke down the left and cut inside but Hoskins held his shot.
However, it was Rovers who created the greater number of chances and in the first minute of the second half George Morrall, on his return to the club, shot over from the edge of the box. He shot wide with another effort soon after and twice Jordan Brown was denied by saves from Adam Honour in the hosts goal.
Reece King fired over from twenty yards whilst a Luke Young cross was headed over by Rhys Thorpe. The closest Eynesbury came to scoring was from a Dan Hammer shot that was cleared off the line.
Next up is a trip to Wormley Rovers for an FA Vase fixture on Saturday 10th October, kick off 3.00pm
