Anglian Water bills set to rise by between 7-10% from April 2026

Households across the region will see their water bills increase from April next year after Anglian Water confirmed changes to its charges for 2026/27.

The new rates will apply from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. While some individual water charges are rising by more than 10%, the overall increase to combined water and sewerage bills is expected to be around 7% on average.

Anglian Water says it reviews its charges annually and is regulated by Ofwat, which determines how much revenue water companies are allowed to collect from customers.

For customers with a water meter, bills are made up of a fixed charge plus a usage charge. From April 2026, the fixed charge will rise from £52 to £60. The cost per cubic metre of water will increase from £2.68 to £2.95.

Unmetered customers, who are billed based on the Rateable Value of their property — set in March 1990 — will also see increases. The fixed charge will rise from £458 to £513, and the charge per pound of Rateable Value will increase from 26p to 29p.

Anglian Water says bills cover more than just the treatment and supply of water. Income also funds sewerage services, environmental protection, infrastructure upgrades and long-term water security.

Customers without a water meter may be able to reduce costs by switching, as metered households pay for the water they actually use.

The company has said customers will be contacted directly with details of how the changes affect their individual bills.
