A first for St Neots

Local man sets up another major event in support of Prostate Cancer awareness.

Dave Young is part of what he hopes will be a truly record-breaking PSA/DRE Prostate Cancer Testing Event.

On Saturday 5th September, at Eaton Socon Health Centre, he is hosting what could be the biggest testing event of its kind.

More than 100 men are due to receive a PSA blood test and DRE examination at one location, in one day — right here in St Neots.

The event runs from 08:00 until 17:00, with a 45-minute lunch break at 13:00.

There is already a huge amount of interest surrounding the day with the expectation that local MPs, TV and Radio will all be present, along with Doctor Jyoti Shah MBE.  Jyoti is a Macmillan Consultant Urological Surgeon at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust and has a specialist interest in prostate cancer, innovative techniques and teaching.

Dave who was diagnosed with early prostate cancer in 2024 has been raising awareness in St Neots via banners in surgeries and public places - even in retail shops. He said “This is shaping up to be a very special day. The event is fully booked with 100 men due to attend for PSA testing and DRE examinations, and we are hoping it could become a record-breaking event for the number of men tested and examined for prostate cancer at one location in one day."

Dave has appeared regularly on Black Cat Radio to help his campaign gain wider recognition.
