Best known for their 1986 hit Driving Away from Home (Jim’s Tune), Liverpool indie pop duo It’s Immaterial made a lasting mark on the UK music scene. But behind the scenes, their long-lost third album House for Sale has its own remarkable story.
Originally crowdfunded via Pledge Music in 2016, the album was delayed for years after the platform collapsed into administration. Undeterred, fans from across the globe pooled resources to bring the project back to life, with the record finally seeing release in September 2020 through Burning Shed.
One of those dedicated fans was our very own Ste, who not only helped fund the album but also managed to track down John Campbell – one half of the duo – for a chat shortly after its release.
Hear Ste’s conversation with John as they reflect on the band’s journey, the lost album’s resurrection, and what it all means to the people who made it happen.
