A drink driver has been banned from the roads after crashing his vehicle at a roundabout on the A428 near Cambourne.
Police were called to the scene on 16 November after reports of a collision involving a car travelling with several passengers.
The driver, Milan Szlovak, 32, admitted he had been drinking and failed a roadside breath test. He provided a reading of 102 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath — almost three times the legal limit.
He was arrested and later charged with drink driving.
Szlovak, of Iceni Way, Cambridge, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 4 December, where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was disqualified from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay a £120 fine.
PC Ben Place, who investigated the incident, said:
“Driving under the influence not only puts your own life at risk, but also endangers your passengers and other road users. As a force, we remain committed to cracking down on drink driving and urge the public to report anyone they suspect of driving while intoxicated.”
Cambridgeshire Police operate a confidential 24-hour drink and drug driving hotline on 0800 032 0845.
