Residents across St Neots are being invited to attend a Celebration of Life and Service of Remembrance for Darren Willis, the town’s much-loved postman, whose passing has been widely felt across the town.
Darren Willis, a familiar face across St Neots, was reported missing from his home in Duck Lane on 9 June 2025, prompting extensive searches over the following months. On 5 November, officers revisited the Eynesbury area as part of ongoing searches, taking seasonal changes and local landscape into account. Darren’s body was found during this search, confirming the devastating outcome.
Hundreds of online tributes have celebrated Darren’s kindness and quiet character. Craig Stewart wrote: “When you think of the word gentleman, you think of people like Darren, who was quiet and unassuming throughout his life.”
Angie Robertson added: “Darren was a kind and thoughtful man. He was my lifeline during Covid, checking on me regularly and ensuring I was ok. Thoughts are with the family at this very sad time.”
Samantha Jayne-Deane reflected: “Thinking of Darren Willis and his family at this heartbreaking time. It was a privilege to be part of the search for him and to see so many people come together with hope, compassion, and determination. Our whole community felt the weight of his disappearance, and we now feel the sadness of his loss just as deeply.”
The Celebration of Life and Service of Remembrance is being organised by Darren’s mother and sister and will take place at St Neots Rugby Club on Friday 9 January 2026, starting at 4:00 pm. Attendees are invited to come as they are, with a buffet and bar available after the service.
The family encourages anyone who knew Darren, or knew of him, to attend and pay their respects, helping the community come together to remember and celebrate his life.
