St Neots Town suffered a late 3-2 loss at home to Sutton Coldfield Town, leaving the Saints in the relegation zone of the league table.
The game was largely controlled by the visitors, who took the lead in the 13th minute when Luke McGinnell capitalised on a defensive lapse to score from close range. St Neots struggled to create meaningful chances for much of the match, with striker Neo Richard-Noel still sidelined and Kieran Barnes unavailable. Harvey Williams tried to spark the attack, but his efforts were consistently kept at bay by the visiting defence and goalkeeper James Wren.
Sutton Coldfield extended their advantage after the break when Ayomide Lekuti finished after good work from Reece Gibson, leaving the home side with a two-goal deficit. St Neots pulled a late goal back through Williams in the 82nd minute, and he added a second deep into stoppage time, but it was not enough to secure a point as visiting substitute Jayden Campbell had restored the two-goal lead five minutes earlier.
Managerial decisions to deploy defenders in midfield highlighted the Saints’ struggles in attack, and while the late goals brought a period of excitement, St Neots will need to address both selection and finishing issues as they look to climb out of the relegation zone in upcoming fixtures.
