St Neots’ men’s and women’s teams enjoyed a successful weekend on the pitch, with several sides recording big wins as the season hits its midway point.
The Men’s 2s remain unbeaten, cruising to a 4-0 victory over March Town 2s. Saints struck early, with Jake French netting inside two minutes, and Jack Percival doubled the lead from a short corner just minutes later. French added his second before halftime, with Andrew Pope rounding off the scoring in the second half to complete a commanding win.
The Women’s 2s also impressed away at March, coming from a brief setback to secure a 5-1 victory against the home side’s 1s. Sue Glover opened the scoring before March equalised, but Belle Holmes restored the lead by halftime. In the second half, Glover and Holmes both netted again, with Claire Piper adding a late fifth to seal the win.
Success continued for the Women’s 3s and 4s against Wisbech opposition. The 4s scored five goals, including a hat-trick from Amelia Kite, while Sue Glover and Charlotte Duberly added the other two. The 3s won 4-1 away at Wisbech 5s, with Kite again netting twice after Lucy Phipps opened the scoring.
The Men’s 1s fell just short in a 2-1 defeat at home to Cambridge Nomads 1s. Nick Hipwell gave Saints an early lead, but Nomads equalised before halftime and struck late to claim all three points. The Women’s 1s also lost, 3-1 to Cambridge City 4s, with Kira Herbert scoring a late consolation goal.
Elsewhere, the Men’s 3s were defeated 7-0 away at St Ives 3s, and the 4s were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Newmarket 4s, Steve Moore on the scoresheet.
With strong performances across multiple sides, Saints will look to carry this momentum into the second half of the season.
