Eynesbury Rovers secured a second 2–0 win over Lutterworth Town in three weeks, with Victor Osobu and in-form Cole Butler sealing the points to lift Rovers into the top ten.
Eynesbury Rovers completed an impressive league double over Lutterworth Town with a controlled 2–0 victory at Dunley Way on Saturday.
Just three weeks on from their home win by the same scoreline, Rovers once again proved too strong, with Victor Osobu opening the scoring and Cole Butler continuing his fine form to wrap things up late on.
Rovers made three changes from their midweek win at Godmanchester, with James Hoskins returning in goal, Osobu coming back into the side, and teenager Oskar Ciach handed his first league start of the season.
It was Ciach who created the first opening, cutting inside before firing over, but Rovers soon took control. Osobu gave them a deserved lead in the 17th minute, calmly side-footing home at the back post after a right-wing delivery.
The visitors dominated much of the first half, with Babacar Camara testing the keeper from distance and later hitting the side netting. Lutterworth’s only real chance before the break came from Aaron Nuttall, but his effort failed to trouble Hoskins.
The second half was tighter, with chances limited, but Rovers remained solid defensively and denied the hosts any clear route back into the game. Sammy Fisher-Diaz came close to setting up a second, while Lutterworth’s best opportunity saw Tendai Daire head narrowly over from a corner.
With time running out, Butler once again made the difference. The forward, fresh from a brace in midweek, won possession high up the pitch before firing low into the net in the 86th minute to seal the victory — his fourth goal in just nine appearances.
The win moves Eynesbury Rovers up to tenth in the United Counties League Premier Division South table.
They now face a tough test next weekend, travelling to runaway leaders Nuneaton Town, with kick-off at 3pm on Saturday 21st March.
