First Goal for Butler as Eynesbury Rovers beat 10-man Lutterworth

Eynesbury Rovers' Cole Butler

Cole Butler scored his first goal for the club as Eynesbury Rovers secured a 2–0 home win over Lutterworth Town in the United Counties League Premier Division South. Jordan Brown added a late second after the visitors were reduced to ten men, sealing back-to-back 2–0 victories for Rovers.

Saturday 21 February 2026
United Counties League Premier Division South
Eynesbury Rovers 2 – 0 Lutterworth Town

Eynesbury Rovers ended Lutterworth Town’s five-match unbeaten run with a composed and clinical performance at home, recording their second consecutive 2–0 victory.

New signing George Morrall went straight into the starting XI, while Sammy Fisher-Diaz made his debut from the bench in the second half.

Butler Opens His Account

After early chances for Lutterworth fell to Tendai Daire and Aaron Nuttall, it was Rovers who struck first in the 15th minute. Dammy Nickels launched a long ball forward that was inadvertently headed into the path of Jordan Brown. Brown drove towards the edge of the area before slipping a pass inside to Cole Butler.

Butler beat his marker and saw his effort deflect past goalkeeper Josh Wormleighton, who had committed the wrong way — the midfielder’s first goal for the club.

Visitors Miss Their Chances

Lutterworth had opportunities to respond. Nuttall capitalised on an under-hit back pass but, after rounding James Hoskins, took a heavy touch and the chance slipped away. Dom Brennan also fired over from eight yards as Town failed to level before the break.

After half-time, both sides continued to create openings. Butler tested Wormleighton again with a firm strike, while Max Kimpton saw a header rebound off the post.

Red Card Turning Point

The decisive moment came just after the hour mark when Lutterworth captain Nathan Astill was shown a red card for kicking out at Jordan Brown on the halfway line. Matters worsened for the visitors minutes later when substitute Jordan Burrows was sin-binned, briefly reducing Town to nine men.

Despite the numerical advantage, Rovers had to remain patient. Luke Young — available with Corby Town not in action — was introduced and played a key role in the late clincher.

Brown Seals It

In the 89th minute, Rovers broke from their own penalty area while defending a corner. Morrall released Osobu down the right, whose driving run ended with a pass inside to Young. His shot ricocheted off two defenders and fell perfectly for Jordan Brown to slot home from close range, securing the three points.

What’s Next?

Rovers return to action on Tuesday 24 February, hosting Godmanchester Rovers in the Hinchingbrooke Cup semi-final. Kick-off is at 7:45pm.
