Eynesbury Rovers U18s claim derby victory over St Neots Town

Eynesbury Rovers U18s secured local bragging rights with a convincing 6–1 win over St Neots Town U18s in the Thurlow Nunn League South-West Division at the Premier Plus Stadium.

Despite the final scoreline, St Neots started the brighter in the Loves’ Farm derby, but Eynesbury goalkeeper Ray Dixon made three important saves in the opening 15 minutes to keep the scores level.

Rovers took the lead in the 22nd minute through Oskar Ciach, who went on to be named man of the match after leading the line throughout. The visitors doubled their advantage before half-time when Jack Peters headed home from close range.

Eynesbury took full control after the break. Sixteen-year-old Boral Bilsel, who has already featured for the club’s first team this season, made it 3–0 just after the hour mark before Seth Bannister added a fourth minutes later.

St Neots briefly responded with a goal while Eynesbury were down to ten men, but an own goal soon restored the visitors’ four-goal cushion before Bilsel added his second of the game to complete the scoring.

Eynesbury’s defence was well organised by captain Jake Hornibrook, with fellow centre-back Maison Izzard alongside him, while Dylan Armstrong controlled the midfield for much of the match.

The result also provided some consolation for Eynesbury after their first team were beaten by St Neots earlier this season in the Hunts Senior Cup.
