Eynesbury Rovers claimed a vital three points on the road as Oliver Brookes’ first-half header sealed a 1–0 win over bottom side Bugbrooke St. Michaels, lifting Rovers to 12th place in the table.
Only one change was made from the midweek 4–1 Hunts Senior Cup victory over Godmanchester Rovers, with James Hoskins returning between the posts. New signing James Smith made his debut late on, replacing Lewis Lynn.
Bugbrooke started brightly, forcing Hoskins into an early save from Jake Webster’s cross and seeing Silvano Obeng volley over. Rovers began to threaten through Dan Hammer’s long throws, with Brookes and Victor Osobu both denied by home keeper John Meadows.
The breakthrough came on 30 minutes — another Hammer throw from the left was met by Brookes’ powerful header for his fifth goal of the season. Bugbrooke pressed hard after the break, but Hoskins made two fine saves from Calvin Green to preserve the lead as Rovers stood firm to secure the win.
Their Hinchingbrooke Cup tie at Huntingdon Town has been cancelled following the hosts’ withdrawal, giving Rovers a bye to face Whittlesey in the next round. Next up: Isuzu FA Vase Second Round away to Haringey Borough on Saturday 8th November, kick-off 3.00pm.
