Recently a group from HM Lord Lieutenant’s office were invited to see the East Anglia Air Ambulance service based in Cambridge They were shown the helicopter and the equipment used when attending emergencies across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire as well as Norfolk.
The East Anglia Air Ambulance service provides our local counties with a rapid response medical crew at the scenes of accident or emergencies. They have 2 helicopters based in Norwich and nearby in Cambridge. The Cambridge Airport site is to be sold so the news is that the EAAA is planning to build a new dedicated facility in Cambridge just 4 miles away from the existing base. Recently members of the Bedfordshire Lord Lieutenancy were invited to see the Cambridge operation and Phil Fothergill joined them on the Cambridge visit and spoke to philanthropy manager Holly Marshall about the work of the air ambulance service and how it all started.
See the video of Phil Fothergill's interview with the Air Ambulance talking off in response to a real 'shout'.
