On Christmas Day 2025, the first baby born at Bedford Hospital was a baby girl named Eden, arriving in the early hours of the morning and bringing festive joy to her family and the maternity team caring for her.
Christmas Day 2025 became an unforgettable celebration for families and staff across the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as eleven babies were safely welcomed into the world across its maternity services.
The first arrival of the day was baby girl Eden, born at 2:26am at Bedford Hospital. Weighing 3,820 grams (around 8lb 7oz), Eden’s arrival marked a joyful start to Christmas morning for her family and the maternity team caring for them.
A Calm and Caring Christmas Birth
Eden’s mother, Veron, described the experience as calm, reassuring and deeply supportive. She praised the maternity staff for going “above and beyond”, ensuring the family felt well cared for at every stage of the birth — even in the early hours of Christmas morning.
Her words reflected the dedication and compassion shown by staff who continued to provide exceptional care throughout the festive period.
More Christmas Day Arrivals
Maternity teams across the Trust were kept busy as the day unfolded:
Later that morning at Bedford Hospital, baby boy Elijah was born at 12:55pm, weighing 2,700 grams, to his mother Evangeline.
Meanwhile, at the Luton & Dunstable University Hospital, baby boy Fatehveer arrived at 2:27am — just one minute after Eden’s birth in Bedford — highlighting just how closely timed the festive arrivals were across the Trust.
By the end of the day, eleven babies had been delivered safely across both hospital sites.
Thanks to Maternity Staff
Emma Hardwick, Director of Midwifery for the Trust, offered her warm congratulations to all the families and paid tribute to the maternity teams working over Christmas. She thanked staff for their professionalism, dedication and compassion, recognising the vital role they played in supporting families during such a special and meaningful time.
Christmas Day 2025 will be fondly remembered by these families as the day their festive arrivals brought extra warmth, joy and new beginnings — a true reminder of the special moments shared across Bedfordshire hospitals.
