Voting is now open for the East Anglian Festival Network (EAFN) Festival of the Year awards, and several local events are in the running.
Among the local festivals competing for the title is Buckfest in Buckden, a music festival that has previously won the award six times, most recently in 2022. Since its launch in 2009, Buckfest has grown year on year, offering live music, family-friendly entertainment, festival stalls, and local food and drinks, while donating the majority of its profits to local charities — around £100,000 so far.
Also on the shortlist is PaxFest, which began in 2017 as a community music event to support live music and raise funds for local charities. Run entirely by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, the festival has already raised more than £17,000 and continues to celebrate and support the local music scene.
The St Neots Armed Forces Weekend is another highlight for Cambridgeshire, typically held at Regatta Meadow. The event honours and supports the armed forces community, including veterans, serving personnel, and cadets. Visitors can enjoy military displays, live entertainment and usually a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, offering appreciation for the past, present, and future contributions of the Armed Forces.
Other local favourites, such as the Little Gransden Car and Air Show, which combines vintage cars and aircraft displays with family activities, are also competing for recognition.
Festival organisers are urging the community to get involved and support their favourite events. Voting is quick and easy — simply click on the following link: Cambridgeshire festival section of the EAFN awards and click on Buckfest. Voting closes at 8pm on Sat 31 Jan 2026
