St Neots Town picked up a point on the road with a 0–0 draw at Boldmere St Michaels, but results elsewhere mean they slip further down the table.
The Saints held firm against an in-form Boldmere side who had won their previous six league matches, producing a solid defensive display despite seeing less of the ball.
St Neots arguably created the better chances over the course of the game, but were unable to find a breakthrough.
In a first half played in bright conditions, both sides struggled to create clear openings early on. The hosts saw efforts from Kyle Byrne and James Tague dealt with comfortably by goalkeeper James Goff.
At the other end, St Neots came closest to scoring. Rhys Thorpe had a shot blocked, while Eniola Agemoh-Davies fired over after breaking through the defence. Neo Richard-Noel also saw an effort cleared off the line following good build-up play.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Boldmere enjoying more possession but unable to break down a well-organised Saints defence, marshalled by Rob Parker and Harvey Henderson.
Goff was called into action late on, producing an excellent save to tip over a header from substitute Lewi Burnside, while Boldmere also missed opportunities through James Tague and Jai Laydon.
St Neots were forced into a defensive reshuffle after an injury to Kwadwo Bugyei-Kyei, but continued to hold firm to secure a point.
However, wins for relegation rivals Bourne and Loughborough Students mean Saints drop a place in the table.
With just six games remaining, St Neots now need to put together a strong run of results to avoid relegation.
