The RFU has announced the Championship will be rebranded as ‘Champ Rugby’ from the 2025/26 season, with new promotion and relegation rules.
Bedford Blues will be among 14 teams in the expanded league, which features play-offs for promotion and a focus on developing English talent.
However, promotion to the Premiership still depends on strict minimum standards, including stadium capacity.
