Eynesbury Rovers extend unbeaten run with narrow win

Jordan Brown, Eynesbury Rovers.

Eynesbury Rovers made it four games unbeaten with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Bugbrooke St Michaels at Hall Road.

The only goal of the game came in the 66th minute, when Jordan Brown converted from the penalty spot after being fouled inside the area.

Rovers had chances to take an earlier lead, with Brown going close twice in the opening stages, while George Morrall was also denied by the visitors’ stand-in goalkeeper.

Bugbrooke, who lost their keeper to injury early on, threatened at times and nearly went ahead before the break, but Chris Gough produced a number of key saves to keep the scores level.

The second half saw Rovers push forward again, and their persistence paid off when Brown stepped up to slot home from the spot.

The visitors responded with a spell of pressure as they searched for an equaliser, but Rovers’ defence held firm, with Oliver Brookes clearing one effort off the line and Gough continuing to impress in goal.

Eynesbury could have added a second late on, but Morrall was denied, leaving the home side to settle for a narrow but important victory.
