Eynesbury Rovers picked up an impressive point on the road after a 1–1 draw with league leaders Nuneaton Town in the United Counties League Premier Division South.

Rovers became just the fourth side this season to deny Nuneaton victory on home soil, battling back after falling behind in the first half.

The hosts took the lead in the 35th minute when Kyle Jardine headed home from a cross, despite James Hoskins getting a hand to the ball.

Nuneaton nearly doubled their advantage shortly after the break when Jardine struck the crossbar, but Rovers grew into the game and found an equaliser in the 72nd minute.

A long clearance from Hoskins sparked a counter-attack, with Lewis Lynn picking out Babacar Camara, whose effort from outside the box took a deflection and found the corner of the net.

Camara’s goal – only his second of the season – ensured Rovers came away with a deserved share of the points.

Nuneaton were reduced to ten men shortly afterwards when Loyiso Recci was sent off, and Eynesbury pushed for a winner late on. Cole Butler saw one effort blocked on the line and fired another wide, while a strong penalty appeal was turned down.

The result came in front of a crowd of 628 and marks another positive performance for Rovers against one of the division’s strongest sides.

Eynesbury now return to home action on Saturday 28th March, when Bugbrooke St Michaels visit for a 3pm kick-off.
