Big wins for Bedford Blues and Bedford Town boost promotion and survival hopes

A strong weekend for local sport saw Bedford Blues maintain their play-off push while Bedford Town moved closer to safety.

It’s been a strong weekend for local sport with important victories for both rugby and football sides.

Bedford Blues secured a convincing 36–12 win over the Cornish Pirates at Goldington Road, maintaining third place in the Championship and strengthening their push towards the play-offs.

In football, Bedford Town FC took a major step towards National League survival with a crucial 3–1 victory against Leamington.

The result lifts pressure at the bottom end of the table and gives the Eagles valuable momentum heading into the final stages of the season.
