For the third consecutive home game, St Neots Town were left frustrated as Boldmere St Michaels came from behind to claim a 2-1 win at Rowley Park.
The visitors, who had lost their previous six league matches, produced a second-half turnaround to lift themselves above the relegation zone, while Saints were left to rue a missed opportunity after a dominant first half.
St Neots began the game strongly and could have been two goals ahead within the opening ten minutes. Connor Furlong’s 15-yard strike rattled the goalpost, Harvey Williams’ effort narrowly went over, and Murphy Culkin headed over from a Kieran Barnes cross. Eniola Agemoh-Davies also saw a close-range shot saved by visiting keeper Jonathan Brown. Saints eventually broke the deadlock after 17 minutes when Harvey Williams cut in from the left to fire past Brown for a well-deserved lead. Despite some pressure from Boldmere, St Neots controlled proceedings for the remainder of the half, with Barnes and Agemoh-Davies both denied in promising positions.
The second half saw a dramatic shift in momentum. Boldmere came out determined and quickly put St Neots under pressure. Early in the half, Saints conceded a penalty, but James Goff produced a superb save to keep his side in the game. The visitors continued to dominate, with Goff making further fine saves from Ben Lund and Charlie Manners. St Neots introduced new signing MJ Muyembe, but it was Pierre Phillip who headed home a corner to level the scores. The pressure told in the closing stages, with Charlie Manners netting from another set-piece to secure a 2-1 victory for Boldmere.
Central defender Charlie Bowen returned from suspension, Sam Willis moved back to full-back, and Agemoh-Davies replaced the injured Jessi Obeng in attack. Despite dominating the first half and creating multiple chances, Saints were unable to convert, leaving them with little to show for their efforts.
The Saints now turn their attention to the league, travelling to Rugby Town for their next fixture.
