St Neots Hockey teams experienced a mixed weekend of results, with standout wins for the Men’s 2s, Men’s 4s, and Women’s 4s, while the Men’s 1s and Women’s 1s faced tough defeats against strong opposition. Despite the losses, several teams showed improved performances and promising signs for the remainder of the season.

Men’s 1s

St Neots Men’s 1s showed a much-improved performance but were narrowly defeated 2-0 by league leaders Spalding 1s. The visitors, who had previously scored at least four goals in every game this season, proved a tough challenge for the Saints. St Neots’ defence held strong for much of the first half but conceded five minutes before halftime. Despite several chances to get back into the game, the Saints were unable to convert. A penalty corner early in the second half sealed the win for Spalding, but St Neots will take confidence from their performance.

Women’s 1s

The Women’s 1s faced a heavy 7-1 defeat away to City of Peterborough 1s. City opened the scoring inside the first minute, but a resolute Saints defence kept the scoreline manageable for most of the first half. Kira Herbert struck to equalise briefly before City regained the lead two minutes later. The visitors dominated the second half, adding five more goals to secure the three points.

Men’s 2s & 3s

The Men’s 2s extended their unbeaten run with a 3-0 victory over the Men’s 3s. Despite topping the league before the game, the 2s dropped to second on goal difference due to other results. Andrew Pope opened the scoring, Josh Billing converted a penalty corner, and James Findlay added a third. The 3s defended resolutely to prevent further goals.

Men’s 4s

The 4s earned a hard-fought 1-0 win against City of Peterborough 8s, with Thomas Brown scoring the decisive goal.

Women’s 4s

The Women’s 4s were the only other winners of the weekend, defeating Oundle 1s 4-1. Daisy Pearson gave the Saints an early lead before Oundle equalised, but goals from Francesca Kite, Amelia Kite, and Lucy Phipps secured a convincing victory.

Other Results

The Women’s 2s were narrowly beaten 3-2 away to Cambridge South 3s. South opened the scoring late in the first half and added a second early in the second. Saints responded with quick goals from Amelia Beauchamp and Sue Glover, but a late strike from South handed them a third consecutive defeat. The Women’s 3s also lost, falling 6-0 away to Kettering 3s.
