St Neots’ Men’s and Women’s second teams both maintained their unbeaten starts to the season with strong results against local rivals St Ives.
The Women’s 2s claimed a thrilling 3-2 home win over St Ives 2s. After falling behind early, Saints were levelled by Willow Browne, before Sue Glover gave them the lead. St Ives equalised late, but Glover struck again to secure all three points, keeping the Women’s 2s within touching distance of the top of the league.
The Men’s 2s shared a 3-3 draw with St Ives 3s in an entertaining encounter. St Neots fell behind early but rallied through Dan Wright and Josh Billing to take the lead. Jack Percival put Saints ahead late in the second half, but St Ives snatched a last-minute equaliser to leave the points shared.
After suffering an 8-0 defeat to Cambridge South 1s on Saturday, the Women’s 1s bounced back with a convincing 5-2 win over Spalding 1s on Sunday. Sue Glover scored twice inside the first ten minutes, with further goals from Tanya Sargeant, Kira Herbert, and a short-corner strike from Kate Clark ensuring a comfortable victory despite a brief Spalding fightback.
The Men’s 1s were beaten 4-2 away to Wisbech Town 1s. Despite falling behind early, Saints goalkeeper Sami Farrer made excellent saves, and Oli Holmes and Rory Jones (from a short corner) found the net, but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat.
