Eynesbury Rovers Beat Arlesey Town to Reach FA Cup Second Qualifying Round

Lewis Lynn, Eynesbury Rovers

Eynesbury Rovers made history on Saturday as they secured their third FA Cup win of the season, a club record, defeating Arlesey Town 3-1.

This victory sees Rovers reach the Second Qualifying Round for the first time since the 1995/96 season.

Arlesey Town came into the match on a 17-match unbeaten run dating back to February, but Eynesbury overcame the challenge despite trailing at half-time.

After a bright start, Rovers conceded in the 12th minute when Alie Bangura’s low cross found Taylor Keely at the back post to give Arlesey an early lead. Rovers’ goalkeeper James Hoskins kept the team in the game with a string of excellent saves, including denying former Rovers striker Jordan Brown twice.

The comeback began two minutes into the second half as Lewis Lynn set up Luke Young to fire home the equaliser. The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 55th minute when Dion Miftari received a red card. Ten minutes later, Lamin Bangura fouled Reece King in the box, and Lynn converted the resulting penalty to put Rovers ahead.

Rovers sealed the win in the 85th minute when Victor Osobu’s cross from the byline was converted by Lynn for his second goal of the match and fifth in his last three games.

Looking ahead, the draw for the Second Qualifying Round takes place at 1pm on Monday 1st September. Rovers return to league action on Saturday 6th September, hosting Yaxley with kick-off at 3.00pm.
