Eynesbury Rovers secured consecutive away league wins for the first time this season with a well-deserved 3–1 victory over higher-placed ON Chenecks in the United Counties League Premier Division South on Tuesday night.
Rovers took the lead on 14 minutes when Max Kimpton curled a superb 25-yard free kick into the net after Lewis Lynn was fouled — the defender’s sixth goal of the campaign. Chenecks were reduced to ten men shortly after, when Ash Ogden was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Lynn.
The visitors doubled their lead on 27 minutes after a slick move down the left involving Harry Hurst, Luke Young and Lynn, ending with Victor Osobu guiding home for his ninth of the season.
Chenecks pulled one back in first-half stoppage time. After a contentious retaken penalty, Tyrun Primus followed up to score despite James Hoskins saving the initial effort.
Rovers restored their composure after the break and made it 3–1 on 55 minutes. A low free kick from Lynn picked out Luke Young, who flicked in a clever back-heel finish for his 16th goal of the season.
The visitors went close to extending their advantage late on, with Lynn denied by a fine save from Bradley Ashley and Young seeing a late effort cleared off the line. Rovers also had a strong penalty appeal waved away after Young was bundled over in the box.
Eynesbury now turn their attention to Saturday’s trip to Godmanchester, kick-off 3pm.
