Train passengers across Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas are being warned to expect significant disruption
As part of the £1.4 billion East Coast Digital Programme, essential engineering works will bring a complete shutdown of services between London King’s Cross and key stations including St Neots, Huntingdon, and Peterborough on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May.
This will affect all trains running between:
- London and Peterborough – impacting commuters from St Neots and Huntingdon
- London and Royston – disrupting services for travellers from Ely and beyond
- Moorgate and Stevenage (via Hertford North)
To help keep people moving, a series of rail replacement bus services will be in operation across the affected routes. These include:
- Peterborough to Bedford via St Neots
- Peterborough to Hitchin
- Royston to Hitchin
- Stevenage to Hertford North
- Hertford North to Alexandra Palace
- Stevenage to St Albans City via Welwyn Garden City
- Stevenage to Luton Airport Parkway via Hitchin
- Alexandra Palace to Welwyn Garden City
- Cockfosters to Potters Bar via Hadley Wood
Passengers are urged to check before they travel, allow extra time for journeys, and make use of alternative routes where possible.
The works are part of a long-term digital signalling upgrade, which aims to increase reliability and reduce delays on one of the UK’s busiest rail corridors.
