A man who stole more than £2,000 worth of alcohol from Waitrose stores – including one in St Neots – has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Ripoo Sharma, of no fixed abode, took bottles of champagne, whisky and tequila from the Trumpington store in May, before targetting the St Neots branch in June.
During the St Neots theft, Sharma tried multiple times to shove security staff out of his way as he tried to flee, but was caught and held until officers arrived.
He pleaded guilty to theft and assault at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison.
