New CCTV Released in Jesbir Singh Khela Death Investigation

Police issue CCTV image in connection with Langford murder investigation

Detectives have released new CCTV footage as they continue to investigate the death of Jesbir Singh Khela, whose body was discovered in a burned-out car near Langford six months ago.

Jesbir — known to many as Jessy — was found dead in the driver’s seat of a Skoda Octavia in a field off the B659 Langford Road shortly before 7.30am on Thursday 6 February. He was 47 and from Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

Police have now shared a CCTV image showing Jesbir with the vehicle at 1.22pm the day before, captured at the Esso petrol station on Norton Way in Letchworth. Investigators believe the car left central London just after 1am on 6 February, travelling up the A41 and Barnet Way, and may not have been displaying its taxi roof sign.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said:

“We remain committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Jesbir’s death and are again appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious on the evening of Wednesday 5 February into the early hours of Thursday 6 February to come forward. Even the smallest detail could prove vital to our investigation.”

A man in his 30s was arrested in June in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
