A murder investigation is under way after a man was found dead in a burnt-out car in the village of Langford, near Biggleswade.
Emergency services were called just before 7:30am on Thursday 6 February, after reports of a vehicle on fire in a field off the B659 Langford Road. On arrival, officers discovered a body in the driver’s seat of what is believed to have been a Skoda Octavia.
The victim has been formally identified as 47-year-old Jesbir Singh Khela, known to some as Jessy, from Letchworth in Hertfordshire.
Initially treated as unexplained, Jesbir’s death has now been confirmed as a murder following extensive police enquiries, including forensic analysis, vehicle examination, and interviews with those who knew him.
Detectives say they are working hard to establish what happened and are appealing for information.
Anyone who knew Jesbir, or who saw any suspicious activity in the area overnight on 6 February, is urged to come forward. Police say even small details could be vital to their investigation.
