Three firearms and over 12 kilograms of Class A drugs have been taken off the streets following a series of proactive police operations across Bedfordshire last week.
The crackdown on serious and organised crime saw officers stop a vehicle in a Bedford car park in the early hours of Wednesday (23 July), uncovering suspected Class A drugs. A search of a related property led to the discovery of three viable firearms and further drugs.
A man in his 20s has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of criminal property.
In separate operations, police also seized more than 12kg of suspected Class A substances, with three other men now facing drugs charges.
Detective Chief Superintendent Duncan Young said:
“These results highlight the success of our intelligence-led approach in tackling serious crime and removing dangerous items from our communities. We urge the public to continue reporting suspicious activity – your information can make a real difference.”
