Body Found in Search for Missing Shefford Man

A body has been discovered in woodland near the River Ivel in Shefford during the search for missing man Richard.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, Bedfordshire Police have confirmed that Richard’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Inspector Liz O’Brien, from the force’s missing persons team, said:

“Our thoughts are with Richard’s family and friends at this time.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeals and extend our gratitude to the Midshires Search and Rescue team for their assistance throughout this difficult search.”

Richard was reported missing earlier this month, prompting a widespread appeal and coordinated search effort in and around the Shefford area.

The police have not released further details at this time. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
