Biggleswade Firefighters Go the Extra Mile at Community Charity Run

Firefighters run 5K fun-run in full gear!

Biggleswade came alive with energy and community spirit today as 500 runners took to the streets for Run The Wade – a 5km charity fun run organised by a local fitness club to bring people together in support of a good cause.

The event welcomed participants aged 11 and over, encouraging everyone—whether walking, jogging, or running—to get involved. With the sun shining and spectators cheering from the sidelines, the atmosphere throughout the town was one of camaraderie and celebration.

One of the standout moments of the day came courtesy of Biggleswade Community Fire Station, who entered a team of firefighters that truly put their endurance to the test. Running the full 5km in full firefighting gear, including heavy jackets, boots, helmets, and even breathing apparatus complete with air tanks and masks, the team drew admiration and applause from fellow runners and supporters alike.

Run The Wade has firmly cemented its place as a highlight on the town’s calendar, and plans are already in motion to make next year’s event even bigger.
