Bedfordshire Fire Cadets have been named overall champions at this year’s prestigious National Fire Cadets Games, showcasing their exceptional skills, teamwork, and dedication against young competitors from across the UK.
The annual event challenged teams with realistic and demanding scenarios designed to test knowledge, agility, and leadership under pressure. Bedfordshire’s cadets excelled across multiple categories, taking home top honours including:
-
Gold for Team 1 in Search and Rescue
-
Silver for Team 2 in Search and Rescue
-
Silver for Team 2 in Home Fire Safety
These results, combined with their strong performances in other events, secured Bedfordshire the coveted overall winners title — a testament to months of intensive training and commitment.
Adding to the team’s achievements, Sandy-based cadet George Whitehurst, a member of the UK Fire Cadet Voice group, contributed creatively by designing the official logo for this year’s Games.
Lead Cadet Instructor Stacey Moore praised the cadets’ hard work and the wider impact of the programme:
“Our cadets have shown what young people can achieve when given the chance to lead and support each other. Winning the national title is incredible, but more importantly, they’ve gained skills and confidence that will benefit them for life. We are incredibly proud of them.”
Bedford Community Fire Station’s White Watch team played a crucial role in preparing the cadets for competition, providing essential training and support.
This national success highlights the strength of Bedfordshire’s Fire Cadet programme and its vital role in developing future leaders within the community.
