Bedford Man Convicted of Manslaughter After Fatal Stabbing

A Bedford man who tried to hide a knife in a rubbish chute after stabbing another man has been found guilty of manslaughter.

Tyreese Kamau, 25, was convicted today (Friday) at Luton Crown Court for the killing of 26-year-old Patrice Che, who died after being stabbed at a property near Bedford town centre in November last year.

Emergency services were called to Brereton Road at around 3am on Tuesday 5 November 2024. Patrice was found with serious stab wounds and taken to hospital, but sadly died the following day.

During the trial, the court heard that an argument between the two men escalated when Kamau armed himself with a kitchen knife and attacked Patrice.

CCTV footage showed Kamau leaving the scene and heading through the town centre to a friend’s flat. He was arrested later that day. Investigators also recovered CCTV evidence of Kamau disposing of an orange carrier bag down a rubbish chute. Inside the bag, police found the knife used in the attack.

Kamau, of Rutland Road, Bedford, was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter after a two-week trial. He will be sentenced on 27 June.

Detective Inspector Adam Bridges from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said:

“Violence in any form can have devastating consequences, and when a knife is involved, the potential for tragedy is even greater.

Kamau’s decision to use a knife led to the loss of a life and lasting pain for many others. Our thoughts remain with Patrice’s loved ones.”
