Rail passengers in St Neots, Sandy, and Biggleswade are being warned of significant disruption over the August bank holiday weekend due to major signalling work on the East Coast Main Line.
On Sunday 24 August, there will be no trains running to or from St Neots, Sandy, or Biggleswade, as Network Rail carries out essential testing as part of the East Coast Digital Programme.
Replacement bus services will operate between these towns and Bedford, where passengers can access Thameslink services to and from London St Pancras.
Other key local impacts include:
-
No trains all day on Sunday 24 August for St Neots, Sandy, and Biggleswade
-
Rail replacement buses between the towns and Bedford
-
Reduced services from 8pm on Saturday 23 August until 9am on Monday 25 August
The disruption is part of testing work between Welwyn Garden City and Hitchin – a crucial section of the East Coast Main Line – and is designed to pave the way for digital signalling upgrades that aim to reduce delays in the future.
Passengers are advised to check their travel plans in advance using National Rail or their train operator’s website.
