Y Spa Temporarily Closed Following Discovery Of Structural Issue

Y Spa has temporarily closed after a structural issue was discovered

Y Spa has confirmed it is temporarily closing after the discovery of a “significant structural issue” in the roof of its plant room, which supports the operation of the hydrotherapy pool.

Cracks were identified in the concrete beams of the roof slab, and following detailed inspections and consultation with structural engineers, the area was deemed unsafe for staff to enter. The plant room houses the chemical dosing system essential for operating the hydrotherapy pool safely, meaning the pool had to be taken offline.

Given how central the hydrotherapy pool is to the spa’s experience, Y Spa said it made the decision to close the entire facility rather than offer a partial service.

A spokesperson explained:

“Without access to the hydrotherapy pool, the overall spa experience is significantly diminished. Rather than risk confusion or disappointment, we paused all bookings until we can offer the full experience our guests expect.”

Work is now underway to repair and secure the plant room structure, as well as upgrade the chemical storage and dosing systems.

“These improvements benefit operational safety and our team — but there are no guest-facing upgrades taking place at this time. We want to get the spa open as soon as possible and that is our focus.”

In the meantime, all affected guests have been contacted directly, with full refunds issued immediately and support offered for rebooking or adjusting plans.

Y Spa is currently working towards a full reopening by 13th September, with the date due to be confirmed later this week. In the meantime, all guests with bookings have been contacted directly, and “full refunds have been issued immediately” alongside support to rebook or adjust plans.

The spa also pointed to its ongoing programme of investment and maintenance, noting that “Y Spa receives continuous investment, including an annual refurbishment and maintenance closure each January, which has been in place since we opened in 2012.”

The team said they remain “committed to reopening safely and as quickly as possible” and thanked guests for their patience and understanding.
