A cheque for £550 has been presented to the St Nicolas Church Restoration Fund in Hail Weston following the recent Vintage Tractor Working Weekend.
Organiser Jim Mawer handed over the funds to Veronica Bolton, treasurer of the restoration fund, after a successful two-day event at Wood Farm in October.
The weekend drew a large crowd, who enjoyed watching 18 vintage tractors in action, demonstrating traditional ploughing techniques across the fields.
“The weather was perfect, and it was wonderful to see so many beautiful old tractors still ploughing the fields just as they used to in their heyday,” said Anne-Marie Hamilton from Wood Farm.
The event also featured the Diane Buddle Memorial Shield competition, awarded to the person who could plough the straightest furrow. This year’s winner was Ivor Sanderson from Wilburton, the first male victor after four consecutive female winners.
