The CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2026 has been launched, now in its 53rd edition. Fully revised and refreshed, the guide features more than 4,500 pubs across the UK, alongside a comprehensive listing of breweries.

The guide remains independent, with entries based on recommendations and evaluations by CAMRA members rather than commercial influence.

Several pubs in the St Neots area have been recognised this year. These include the Pig N Falcon, a busy town-centre pub offering up to six real ales and several real ciders, focusing on microbreweries and distinctive beers such as milds, porters, and stouts. The Chequers in Little Gransden, run by the same family for over 70 years, features a traditional middle bar, wooden benches, a roaring fire, and a quirky collection of decoy birds perched above the bar. The Three Horseshoes in Graveley, built in the early 20th century after other village pubs closed or burned down, also makes the list, with historic ties to the nearby RAF bomber base. Barley Mow, Eaton Ford – A simple, one-bar community pub that hosts live music, seasonal events, and a wide variety of activities. It boasts a garden room and a large beer garden with a children’s play area. White Hart, Great Staughton – A former coaching inn dating back to 1630, described as transporting visitors “back to the days of horse-drawn coaches.” Alongside its main bar, the pub offers a small pool room and a restaurant serving traditional pub food from Thursday to Sunday lunchtimes, and on Saturday evenings.

Other Bedfordshire pubs included are The Castle in Newnham Street, the Wellington Arms on Wellington Street, The Cock in Broom, the Plough in Bolnhurst and the Anchor Inn in Great Barford.

While 900 new pubs appear in this year’s guide – 14 of them in Cambridgeshire – CAMRA has warned of continued pressures on the brewing and pub industries. Over the past year, 149 breweries have closed, while only 71 have opened, and 36 pubs listed in last year’s guide have since shut their doors.

CAMRA chairman Ash Corbett-Collins said:

“This really is a make-or-break Budget for the Chancellor. It’s time for the Government to decide if they are pro pubs and independent brewers, or if they are going to reign over the demise of the Great British Pub. Consumers want decisive action to get independent beers onto bars and allow pubs to thrive.”

The Good Beer Guide remains the “trusted voice” of cask beer drinkers, celebrating excellence in pubs while highlighting the challenges facing breweries and publicans nationwide.
