Two drivers have been banned from the roads after being caught driving under the influence on the same day in August.
On Sunday, 10 August, Bianca Saioc, 27, was stopped on the A1M at Alconbury after being seen swerving between lanes. Tests revealed she was more than twice the legal alcohol limit. Later the same day, Dionne Holder, 53, was found slumped at the wheel of her Fiat 500 on Brampton Road, Brampton, after reports of erratic driving. Holder, who required support from officers as she was unsteady on her feet and not wearing shoes, was more than four times the limit.
Both appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 19 September, and pleaded guilty to drink driving. Saioc, from Limetree Avenue, Peterborough, was disqualified for 20 months and fined £150, while Holder, of Pople Drive, Alconbury Weald, received a 36-month driving ban and a fine of £653.
PC Doug McColm, who investigated, said:
“Driving after consuming the amount of alcohol these drivers had puts yourself and other road users at risk. Thank you to the members of the public for contacting us and allowing us to act.”
The force encourages anyone who suspects someone is driving under the influence to report it through their confidential hotline – 0800 032 0845, available 24/7.
