Rural crime officers have uncovered a high-value “chop shop” near Madingley, recovering stolen vehicles worth more than £300,000 following a tip-off from a member of the public.
At around 3am on Monday (29 September), police were alerted after a vehicle stolen from London the previous day was tracked to a farm on St Neots Road, Madingley. Officers discovered the stolen BMW at the site, alongside nine other vehicles including a Porsche Taycan, Range Rover, and additional BMWs, taken from locations across London, Essex, and Scotland.
Inside the industrial unit, officers found a professional jamming device, a sophisticated tool designed to block vehicle tracking systems and in-car SIM cards, used to prevent recovery.
Sergeant Tom Nuttall, from the Rural Crime Action Team, said:
“This was clearly a highly organised operation, using advanced technology to obstruct our efforts and hiding their activity at a farm. Thanks to our enhanced tracking systems, we were able to bypass the jamming devices and recover the stolen vehicles.”
Police say the investigation is ongoing and have urged anyone with information or who has witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
