Drivers in St Neots are being advised of temporary road closures for the town’s Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday 30 November.
To allow safe setup and operation of the event, High Street will be closed from 7:00 AM until midnight. Additional closures affecting Market Square, South Street, New Street, Brook Street, Church Street, and Town Bridge will be in place between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM during the main festivities.
Motorists are urged to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time for diversions, and follow any temporary signage.
The event promises a full day of festive entertainment for all ages.
A Santa’s Grotto, proudly run by St Neots Museum, invites children to meet Santa, share their wish lists, and take home a little festive cheer for £7.50 per child. Families can also enjoy the free Rodeo Reindeer ride, suitable for children aged five and over, testing how long they can hold on.
Meanwhile, the cheerful elves from Clickity-Clack Parties will be spreading joy at Elves Corner with balloon modelling and glitter face painting, including a special dance session on stage with Jazzy the Elf from 1:00 to 1:20 PM.
Stage entertainment throughout the afternoon includes performances from local dance schools, choirs, and music groups, beginning at noon with Peppercorns Academy and running through to the countdown to the lights switch-on at 4:40 PM.
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5:00 PM, accompanied by a fireworks display, followed by a performance from FiL Straughan before the event concludes at 6:00 PM.
Organisers are encouraging attendees to wrap up warm and bring their festive spirit for a magical day as the town marks the start of the Christmas season.
